Alcohol
We all talk about teenagers and their binge drinking but what about seniors drinking. Recent advice from the Royal College of Psychiatrists shows older people drink excessively to combat ill health, boredom or loneliness. They should limit their intake to 11 units per week in order to prevent falls and depression. One unit is a glass of wine or a half pint of beer.

Alzheimer's disease
British researchers have discovered that high levels of a protein called clusterin in the blood lead to more severe and rapidly progressive forms of the disease. They are currently developing a blood test which detects the protein clusterin enabling doctors to predict Alzheimer's disease up to 10 years before the symptoms develop. It may be some time before they have a reliable test and some people might prefer not to know.

Is Caring bad for you?
In a US study they found that even taking into account the stress of looking after someone, they found that carers who assisted with feeding and dressing felt more positive.
